Beads! Beads! Everyone loves beaded jewelry and finding distinctive styles of bead jewellery gets harder and harder as mass produced poor quality imports push the nice beadwork off shop shelves.
JewelryTibet has been importing high quality beaded jewelry from Nepal for a decade and a half - beadwork carefully made by hand, one piece at a time, by farm women living in the hills near Kathmandu Nepal.
Beads are an important part of life for the women of Nepal. A girl gets her first beads when she is married. Indeed marriages are an opportunity for the ladies to show off their beads, often in long sashes worn over the shoulder and accented with spacers of real gold.
Our beadwork is produced exclusively for Jewelry Tibet in styles adapted to the American and European market. The glass beads themselves are produced in the Czech Republic, source of most of the world's better quality beads. Our necklaces are strung on cotton thread with a polyester core to balance strength and wearability. The clasps are themselves handmade in the traditional Nepalese manner with a button of brass. Every care is taken to provide our customers with a durable and beautiful piece of jewelry that will be treasured for years to come.
Care of your Beaded Jewelery
Beadwork is intended to last a long time with proper care. This largely means protecting it, as much as possible, from water which can cause the thread to deteriorate. Of course, beadwork should not be given to small children who will play roughly with it. We use strong thread in our bead work, but any thread will break if subject to stress.
